"My boyfriend asked me to marry. I told him I would under one condition. I want him to take a lie detector test. He thought I was joking. I'm not. I have to be honest, I'm a little scared about getting married. It's a huge commitment. If I'm going to do it, I want to make sure all of my questions are answered. My boyfriend says that I don't trust him. That's not it. I think I have a right to have my questions answered. He says if two people love and trust each other then a lie detector test isn’t necessary. I think a lie detector test is necessary because it can help prevent you from making a big mistake. What's your opinion on this? Have I overstepped my bounds? If my boyfriend has nothing to hide then why not take the test?"

"My 19-year-old daughter came over last night and asked for money to fix her car. If she doesn't get the car fixed she won't be able to go to work and might get fired. This would lead to her possibly losing the lease on her apartment. My husband says she became an adult the day she moved out. He says she got herself into this mess so she needs to get herself out. He refuses to give her any money. I feel bad for my daughter and want to help her. My husband would be mad if I did. What would you do if you were us? Would you help her or not? My husband says helping her defeats the purpose of her becoming a responsible adult. Should we hang her out to dry or not?"

I made sure to keep some distance so she would never ask for my phone number. She revealed things to my persona that she never revealed to me. I recently let my secret slip while talking to my mother-in-law. She was outraged and said I should be ashamed of myself for tricking my daughter and lying to her. I told her what I did was good parenting and a way to keep an eye on her. She disagreed and thinks it's terrible what I have done. What do you think? Good or bad parenting? Do I owe my daughter an apology and the truth?"
